Shortcuts could be navigational (such as skipping back to replay a portion of video to aid in transcription) or they could involve inserting a snippet (such as assigning a key stroke to insert an interviewee’s name that might appear multiple times in the script). A pop out window allows researchers to set their own snippets and shortcuts. ![]() Inserting time codes is as simple as clicking “edit†and “set time code †once set, time codes function dynamically to hyperlink to that portion of the video. InqScribe positions video to the left of the screen with transcription to the right. InqScribe’s website has a support page with multi-paged information with screen shots to guide users through their software. I was able to navigate most of the features without using the help menu, and I’ve never used transcription software before. This software is intuitive, simple, and effort-less. Within an hour of downloading InqScribe, I had imported a media file, set time codes, transcribed dialogue, and created quick enter snippets.
